The Story
Taking you on the journey of a lifetime
Biggest Loser/Cutting the Fat

Have you ever seen the show “The Biggest Loser?” I’ve only watched a couple episodes in my time, I have mixed feelings about it.

My first thought is “man, how do these people let themselves get to that point?” How do people allow themselves to get THAT big? I am by no means in great shape, but I like to think that I have my weight under control.

But what have I lost control of? What do I continually put off, even though I know it is detrimental to my health (mental/physical/emotional/etc.)? And what habits or ideas or other things do I take on that will hinder progress in stuff?

“Hmm, pretty interesting. You think on deep things.” Why thank you :)

For me, it’s time. I have wasted so much time by not being focused on where I am. I haven’t been too focused at all, actually. This is reflected in my grades, my prayer life, my relationships, and my finances. Lack of focus causes lack of quality.

My second thought is “wow, these people are sick and tired of being the way they are and are willing to take extreme measures to change that.” It’s such an inspiration to see these people because they recognize their problem. Not only do they see their problem, they do something about it. They humble themselves and take action.

I know I have issues. I know I suck with money and time management, but up to this point, I have done nothing about it. I don’t have a budget (yet). I made a schedule, but I don’t stick to it very well. Like I said, this shows up in my grades and finances.

I’ve heard it said that in order to see massive results, you must take massive action. This might include something that will hurt your pride. But hey, pride comes before destruction, right? It is very humbling for me to ask my parents for money. I’ve always been pretty independent and been able to do things on my own. Heck, I learned guitar on my own and now I play for tens of thousands of (imaginary) people every night! So for me to ask my parents or anyone for help, my pride must take a HUGE hit.

Pride seems to be one of those things that are really holding people back. It keeps us from seeking help. It keeps us from helping others. Man, what a thought. What if someone was put into MY path and I didn’t help them because of the way it would make ME look? That’s heavy. Maybe I’ll explore the subject deeper and bring back what I find.

So anyway, what are some other things that are holding you back?

What kind of massive action can you take to see yourself finally moving away from your struggles?

What is some of the fat that you can cut from your life?

With love,

Rod

Hi Rod, nice post. Don’t beat yourself up over your financial situation. How old are you? And do you play in a band or anything?

I’m 20 (21 in dec) and I play at church. I know there is no reason to beat myself up over the money thing, just do something about it.

    What about yourself?

Wow. Rod, you really hit the ball on that one. Certainly made me think.

    Way to go!

Rod, aren’t you in school? That is your attempt at being financially independent ONE DAY…Do you know how many students struggle financially through school? You are doing the right thing by achieving an education that will one day support you and your eventual family. Time management is important in all aspects of life and may give you the opportunity for a part-time job while in school to help with the money demands that we ALL have. But, over all…chill out a little about the money.

Now on to more important things…to know to do right and do it not, is sin…need I say more? And yes be inspired by the correct path others take…we all need a kick in the pants from time to time. : )and as you learn from your own mistakes, be an example to others to help them that may come in your path…I know you are ministry minded and are a good kid…chin up please. : )
